Today I went with Allen in the Ranger up on the Uncompahgre.  We parked at the Hauser Road turnoff.  We went down to the Cottonwood Rd. and around to Hwy 90 and made the loop back to the truck.  The whole lower section was miserable hot.  The Ranger was very warm!  On the way up the hill we hold the doors part way open to funnel in air.  We saw a few deer, a couple elk and a coyote trotted by us while we were eating lunch.  We ran into some Montrose fire guys who were on duty up there patrolling for any fires that might start.  They said there were three crews up there on the mountain.  It was 75 degrees on top and close to 90 here in town.  Sooo ready for this heat to end.  At least the air was clear and all the mountains were visible.  That was nice.  I only shot video and no photos.
