Vacation 2019 - Vernal
We had a great vacation this summer to northern Utah, Wyoming and Montana.  1st stop was Vernal, UT.  We wanted to tromp around the area and scout out the potential for moving here in the not too distant future.  We stayed for a few days and actually stayed another night in Vernal on our way back.  It's a beautiful area and tops on our list of places to relocate to.
This was on our Diamond Mountain ride over opposite Dutch John on the Green River.

We also visited Moon Lake

We got in a heavy hail storm on the trip to Oaks Park Reservoir

We drove a 4x4 road back into this little lake.  On the walk back to the truck we met a local young couple.  They wouldn't even talk to us.  But, most folks from the area were very friendly.

We also visited Paradise Park Reservoir and I again tried my hand at fishing - no luck.

Nice views of the Uintas

Vacation 2019 - Return Trip

We left Jackson and went over to Star Valley through Afton, Smoot, etc.  What a beautiful valley.  We were going to spend the night in Evanston, WY but got there far quicker than we thought.  So, we rearranged things and headed on to Vernal to spend our last night.  On the way we went by Bear Lake.  That was a treat.  I hadn't been there since I was in college at Utah State.  Wow, had it changed - much more touristy now.

Joann really liked all the flowers that lined the streets of Vernal.

Well, that's all she wrote for vacation 2019.  It was a great trip!

Vacation 2019 - Jackson Hole, WY
We headed from Cody to Jackson Hole where we would stay nearly a week.  We decided that was too long as Jackson is a zoo - not our kind of town.  But, we had an enjoyable time riding the gondola and did something we do on every  Jackson trip - attended a play at the Jackson Hole Playhouse.  We also made excursions up into Yellowstone, and Grand Teton Park as well as a drive up the Gros Ventre canyon as far as we could go.

Our accommodations for the week.  It was very nice and reasonable for Jackson.

Teasing my antler addict son that I would bring him "this one" from the Jackson park entrance.  Obviously not!

The gondola ride was great, but that black cloud spelled trouble.  There were about 100 people crammed in that little building for about an hour due to lightning.  There wasn't room to even move and sitting down wasn't even an option.  Oh well, it was fun anyway!

Nice views of the Snake River valley.

We also took a boat tour on Jenny Lake that was very enjoyable but very hot!

Vacation 2019 - Cody, WY
Next stop was Cody Wyoming.  We spent several days there and visited the Beartooth Highway, Yellowstone, the Bighorn Mountains, etc.  It's a nice town too, but not likely one we would move to.  We traveled a lot of backcountry roads - which is our favorite thing to do.

My ranch??? it must be a good omen!

The wind was howling at Yellowstone Lake - nearly blowing the waves up onto the road.
