What a grand day. We decided to head up toward Ridgway in hopes that the animals would be more active with a supposed storm coming. We hope it is but they’ve just passed by so many times the past year we don’t count on it. We went over Log Hill and saw a few does. We drove up the valley and didn’t see much there either. The San Juan snowpack is sure meager. It only looks like a September dusting up there. Then we went up to Elk Meadows. Again no critters. We then headed over to the east side of the valley. There we finally ran into some deer and elk. No big boys though. On the way home we got the wild hair to head up in the Cimarron country. So we grabbed some Taco Bell to go and headed over Cerro. It was completely dry up at Ridgway, but not in the Cimarron. The roads were even partially snow packed. We saw lots of deer but no elk. We saw four bucks together that were all pretty nice. One was very wide though not very tall. We photographed them without disturbing them. It was a great day to be out and about. OMD EM1 III
