Silverton Ride May 31, 2019

We took a little jaunt up over the mountains to check on the snow situation.  It's incredible the amount of snow still remaining.  We also had a somewhat rare treat in getting to see a young bull moose.  Their numbers are increasing around here, but it's still fairly rare to see one.  This young fella didn't seem bothered by us (though he stuck out his tongue at us...teenagers!), though we were a fair distance away and using telephoto lenses.

Cottonwood Canyon Hike May 24, 2019

The blessing of winter snow and spring rains have made the desert country come alive this year.  The wildflowers are close to, if not the best I've seen.  I love the mountains, but when the desert looks like this I'm all in.  Thank you Lord for the moisture.  It's soooo nice after the mega drought last summer and for the last 20 years to some extent.

Black Canyon May 22, 2019

This was just a photography run up to the Black Canyon.  The light was pretty nice.  I enjoy it no matter what the day is like.  And, this time of year the tourists are just starting, so it's not so congested.  The river was raging down below from the epic winter snows now melting.

Photography Hike May 15, 2019

My goal on this hike was wildlife photos. But I forgot that the turkey hunters were out in force. So, big critters didn't show themselves. So I just shot what caught my eye.

Transfer Pond Hike May 11, 2019

After the hike in the last post, I convinced the Lady to hike with me to the same spot. She enjoyed herself and I really enjoyed her company. Things had dried out a bit from a few days ago. It was a fantastic day. We ended it by finding a nice spot in the tall ponderosa trees where we built a small camp fire and roasted hotdogs. What a treat as camp fires were not allowed most of last year. Most of these photos were taken with my GoPro.

Transfer Pond Hike May 6, 2019

This a hike I usually do earlier. But, with the prolific snow this year I couldn't make it. I also often fish the main pond for those gorgeous brookies. But I was nearly positive the pond would have gone dry last year. Yahoo, it didn't and there were fish rising in abundance. It made me regret leaving my rod in the vehicle. I'll go back soon with rod in hand!  It was a great day in God's great outdoors. About 5 miles round trip - very easy.
