Escalante Wildlife Refuge

We don't play the halloween game - we despise that so called holiday.  Instead we went to EWR today - first time this fall.  It's always a good place to walk - except in skeeter season.  There really isn't much wildlife in the area...I don't know why it's called a wildlife refuge.  It's more of a bird refuge - I guess birds are considered wildlife.  Anyway, it was a fun and beautiful walk. River Walk

Sheesh - another river walk.  I broke out the Nikon D7500 today.  I'm thinking about selling it.  It's a great camera, but my others are better at autofocus and menus, etc.  Fall is definitely in full swing even here in the valley. I sure love the cottonwoods in fall.   Let it come - I'm ready.  I'm definitely not a fan of heat.

River Walk

Another river walk today.  I love walking there this time of year, especially when the weather is cool.  Mosquitoes are gone and there usually are fewer people.  I used the Sony RX10 IV today.  Man that is a good camera.  Fast auto focus and it rarely misses.  That thing does stuff I'll likely never try. Toward the end, the light on the San Juans was fantastic.

River Walk

I don't post every walk I take, as sometimes I don't even take a photo.  But, if there's something that catches my eye and its at least an ok photograph I'll post it.  So, here are some highlights from my walk by the river today.  It's good to see all that new snow on Buckhorn.  Panasonic G95

Hanks Point and P77

Today we ventured up to Hanks Point and roamed a bit.  We were mostly trying to photograph birds.  I got a couple nuthatches and chickadees.  In the late afternoon we did a P77 run and found some bucks and other critters to photograph.  I'm trying out a Panasonic G95.  I love Panasonic cameras as they are so easy to use.  We saw something that really surprised us - a forky buck eating a thistle plant - not just the flower, but the pokey leaves.  Crazy.  It was a wonderful day outdoors.

Los Pinos Ride

It had been a bit since we'd been over Los Pinos pass.  It was time to do it again.  What a dandy day.  Up Cebolla Joann spotted a bald eagle in a golden cottonwood tree.  I would have missed it.  On over the pass on the Cochetope side we saw some bighorn sheep.  One young sheep was quite photogenic.  He walked out on a rock overlooking the highway.  It made for some nice photos.  What a fantastic day it was!  Sony RX10IV

Ridgway Fall Colors

We took sis on a fall colors tour.  Elk meadows was the primary spot and the colors were fantastic...still.  A few clouds would have been nice, but you take what you get.  We had a great day and once again we have a photo overload!  What's new?  SonyRX10 IV & Nikon D7500
