Cerro Cutoff Evening Ride
We love going up on P77 road in the summer evenings. It reminds us of our weekly trips up on Diamond Mountain out of Vernal. Only here, there are very few big bucks. But, it's still fun. What a beautiful evening. It was a bit unusual to see a jackrabbit and good to see a fawn. All shots with the Nikon D7500.

Buck Trail Hike
I've done this hike several times before - it's always fun and good exercise. I didn't see anyone on the trail as is usually the case. Got some bird photos - Townsend's Solitaire, Northern Flicker, and Downey Woodpecker (I think). Saw a really funky deer on the way home. He's an odd one. What a great day! Thank you Lord!

Little Cimarron Hike
July 15, 2022
I started for a ride up the Little Cimarron - but, ended up hiking....imagine that. I hiked about 7 miles total before the thunder bumpers chased me off. The thunder a couple times was downright scary. It rained buckets up there just as I was leaving. I called this the Bear Poo Hike...I saw 5 fresh piles of bear scat. One was so fresh that I could smell it. But, I didn't see any bears or people....yay! I saw an odd bull moose on the way out that had a very weird set of antlers. Anyway, a great day!

Relief
Well, the weather gurus were predicting a week of extreme heat.
Then it all changed. I think God must find humor in their predicting…”watch this”.
Anyway, it clouded up in the afternoon and dropped into the 70s. YES
It even rained a bit.
Church this morning and a relaxed afternoon…even a few miles walk.
Watched the clouds by the moon. Awed by God’s creation!

Really Hot
It broke the century mark in Delta and Grand Junction today. Yukkk
We went and took Joann's folks for a ride on Grand Mesa. 72 up there.
It was a nice break. There were lots of people trying to escape the heat.
This evening we sat on the back porch until dark.
Then we moved to the front and I shot some moon photos with the P950.
It is quite impressive on the moon setting.
Another good Saturday in the books!

Mountain-time
We headed to the mountains to beat the heat.
But, in places it was 80 up there.
We went over Owl Creek and up the west and middle forks.
There were nearly more people than mosquitos.
Our plan was mostly bird photos.
But, they didn’t cooperate and stayed high in the trees.
However, any day in the mountains is better than in town.
We did see a doe with two fawns. The tall grass made
it difficult to get a photo.
We are soooo blessed!
Heating Up
It’s warming up. It’s supposed to be in the mid 90s and dry for a week.
Got in a few miles walk this morning. It was in the low 50s last night.
Rode the exercise bike this afternoon.
Got a new camera for our birding. Nikon P950.
Been testing it all afternoon and evening. I’ll add
photos when I take them off the camera

Went birding this morning up on Dave Wood.
I only used the Canon SX70 today.
It started sprinkling on me, so I only stayed a couple hours.
It had just rained the evening before so was very quiet and smelled fresh.
Watched a couple downy woodpeckers for a long time.
A Nuthatch gave me a quick shot which isn't very good.
Got a few more shots at the yard birdfeeder.
Had a big rain and wind storm this evening. Knocked out the power
for about an hour.
A very good day!
