Hightower Ride
Today we headed up to Paonia and then on up toward Overland Reservoir. Sadly, it was nearly dry as are many Grand Mesa lakes after this extremely hot dry summer. Fall colors were just getting going up there. They're a bit late this year due to the heat. It was a quite windy day. Lots of people up there. Hunters. Nikon Z50 II

Hampton Lake Hike

Today I took off and hiked a trail we've driven by many times. I just thought it went up in the trees a ways and that was it. After studying it a bit on GAIA, I found that it actually went to a couple lakes. It's very steep at the beginning, but not dangerously so. I had been raining a few days before so the ground was not dry and that made the steep section better. Fall colors were in nearly full swing. I didn't see anyone else on the trail. There were a couple people by Fish Creek Reservoir (which was very low) but they had come up through the private subdivision. It rained fairly hard on me for about 20 minutes. I just got under a tree and waited it out. It thundered a bit, but no lightning close. There's another branch on this trail that I'm going to have to go test out next summer.
