Black Mesa

I'd seen photos from elsewhere in Colorado of muleys rutting already.  So, we headed up to the North Fork area to see if we could find some.  Nada....zilch.  Plenty of does and fawns but no bucks chasing them.  We decided to wander on over Black Mesa too.  It was slick in spots from the recent snow, but mostly dry.  OMD EM1 III

River

We got our first big snow today - about 5".  Only in the 30's all day and cloudy.  I shoveled the snow, which was very heavy and wet and went this afternoon down to the river.  They hadn't plowed the sidewalk trail so there were very few people....yay!  The birds were quite cooperative.  I saw a bald eagle swoop down to try to snatch a duck out of the air that had just taken off.  He was unsuccessful, but landed by the river.  I haven't got my camera setup for birds in flight yet...I really need to do that as those shots would have been fun.  Great afternoon anyway.  OMD EM1 III

River

Roofs were white this morning and the ground was wet. This afternoon I took a jaunt at the river. It was cool…mid 40s and cloudy.  It felt good. The river has been running very high. But, birding was good…better than usual. Not many people were out today…I like that. OMD EM1 III
